It's About ‘The More Than Giving’ People - Meet Angela

Meet Angela!

Angela is a Nonprofit Virtual Assistant (NPVA)

Why did you choose to become a virtual assistant?

“I had always dreamed of flexibility outside of the traditional office hours. I’m organized and deadline driven and knew that having the freedom to make my own schedule would be a great complement for the flexibility my family would need. After 3 years of working remotely, it is still better than I had imagined!

What about the NPVA program attracted you?

“From the start, I was very impressed with the More Than Giving Co. I have a Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Management and could instantly tell that Vicki and her team were the real deal. The training and expertise that goes into the NPVA program really prepares Virtual Assistants to be incredible assets to the organization they serve.

What have you learned about yourself since working with MTG?

“Since working with MTG, my confidence in myself and my work has significantly increased. I have realized what I am capable of and learning within a quick turnaround time. Often Virtual Assistants need to hit the ground running and pick up projects that they are unfamiliar with. This can be an overwhelming feeling at first but after 1.5 years with More Than Giving, I know I am able to support our clients in this way and exceed expectations.”

What surprised you about MTG or your clients?

“We have great clients! I am continuously impressed with their professionalism and mission focus work. I have been very fortunate to support 3 MTG clients and each of them are managed by experts who put their heart into everything they do. It’s inspiring!”

How would you describe the needs of most of your clients?  How did you help them address those needs?  Can you provide a few examples?

“Most of my clients need support with meeting and project management. As we all know, nonprofits are busy and oftentimes understaffed. My job is usually to come in and pick up the details, organize the material, and make lives easier all around.”

If you were to provide one piece of advice to your nonprofit clients, what would that be?

“Communication is everything! Establish expectations and communication norms early on to avoid challenges later. Weekly meetings and opportunities for trainings and questions will set you up for success.”

What do you like to do when you're not working?

“I am a Florida native and love everything about the water. When our family isn’t at the beach, we are likely working on house projects in our 110 year-old historic home, or I’m putting in some miles on my Peloton bike.”

What’s a fun fact about you many people may not know?

“My husband and I have been foster parents for 2 years. We have provided short term respite care for around 30 children and have had 1 long term placement for 4 months.”
